my first band!!! i played drums (mostly). twas with daniel, camy, robbie and josh. we started in high school playing nirvana covers and ended up with a noise rock/post-hardcore kind of sound. basically, hippos was us learning how to be in a band while also figuring out what kind of music we liked. some big bands for us were sonic youth, minor threat, big black and slint. most practices consisted of jam sessions trying to mix all of that. it was really fun.
we released one single (meatbag/pregnant) that we recorded with patrick. there was some more original stuff (including a fuckass 10+ minuter), but we decided most of it sucked so never got round to recording. the band just kind of came to a natural end; we’d been at it a good while and had a better idea now of what we each wanted to play. we were pretty aimless at times, but many memories to cherish. i always found it super sweet how all our families and friends would come to our gigs and hangout after. blessed to have been in a band with me best chums. love y’all. #uddymassive
